Nature areas

The western part of the Kaiserslautern vacation region is shaped by the Western Palatine Moor stretching eastward. Beech-lined paths and ditches crisscrossing the plain reveal the original character of the moor. This landscape is marked by the gentle transition from forest to moor, from pastures to fields.

In the northern part of our region you find the North Palatine Hills, whose old village centers with half-timbered houses and historic buildings give a vivid impression of the region's past.

The south of the Kaiserslautern vacation region offers the biosphere reserve of the Palatinate Forest/Northern Vosges. Its mixed forest and red sandstone make it a colorful destination for outings and trips in any season.

In the southwest the Palatinate Forest borders on the Sickingen Heights, a plateau offering a broad view over fields, pastures and wooded valleys all the way to the Saarland.
